Ludo: what to know before playing

Bring your attention to one round of Ludo. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Read the objective before making your first input. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Give this approach a try

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Keep the objective visible.

What you are aiming for

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Making your moves

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

How your actions work

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Look at the feedback after the action.

An example to follow

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Read the matching step again.

An important reminder

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use.
